The Stealth Acoustics Model 228-Series 2 / 228-70V is a flat panel in-wall loudspeaker, designed to mount in a standard 2x4 wood or metal framed wall placed 16 inches on center. The speaker panel attaches to the bare studs in the same manner as drywall. Drywall is installed adjacent to the speaker panel. The seam between the speaker panel and the drywall is filled and taped in the same manner standard drywall joints are finished. The face of the speaker is tapered slightly around the edge to allow for these finishing materials. The wall and speaker panel are then textured and painted so the speaker panel becomes a seamless part of the wall.
This product is very easy to install. The graphics printed on the face of the speaker include basic installation notes that will disappear when painted over.
Acoustic performance
The acoustic performance will be affected by the amount of texture and paint applied to the face of the speaker panel. The volume of space inside the wall may vary and will also have an effect on speaker frequency response. In most cases the standard tone controls on your audio equipment will allow you to compensate for this. Depending on your application, for additional control you may want to add a graphic equalizer to your system. In a home theatre installation, the Stealth 228 speakers will provide the best results when used in conjunction with a powered sub woofer. In this case, if your amplifier allows you to do so, select the speaker control settings that will eliminate frequencies below 100 hz from the Stealth 228 speakers.

Power handling
We rate this speaker system at 80 watts continuous program material. In other words, you can play them very loud for a very long time providing your amplifier is producing a clean signal. By clean signal we mean undistorted or without clipping. If you attempt to get more out of an amplifier than it is capable of delivering, it will begin to clip and produce DC current along with the program material. Your speakers run on AC current and DC current will very quickly heat up the speaker voice coils and cause them to fail. Usually when this happens, the sound will be very loud and distorted. Keep in mind, the position of the volume control on your amplifier is not proportional to the output of the amplifier. Depending on the input level of your source, your amplifier could be at full power with the volume control at 12 oclock. It is very easy to blow a speaker that is rated at 80 watts with an amplifier that is rated to produce 50 watts or even less. Please note that damage of this type is not covered under warranty.
